Absolutely amazing

Wanted another Montero, but since the North American market doesn't sell them, and this new look Outlander was so impressive from it's launch commercials, to the test drive, I had to have one.
I purchased August 1st, 2021. Drove it from NY to LA, in 7 days, and oh what a wonderful vehicle it was. I don't have the super decked out version, just the FWD SE with upgraded electronics package.
Natural temps of areas we travelled in were between 20°F to 120°F. It handled well in snow with it's stock tires in Yellowstone, amazingly on highways in the Dakota's with downpour conditions at 50 mph (too scary to even attempt to go faster), and stuck to the road like a racecar all over the Southwestern Deserts UT, AZ, NV, and CA.
One note though, if vehicle is in ECO mode and it's raining outside, or snowing, the inside windows still fog up. Switch it to Normal or Sport and the AC will clear them right up.
I wanted the AWD launch version, with the super cool seats and interior stitching, but those vehicles were too far away to purchase (and sold out everywhere). To get everything you want on this ride, in the colors you want is a needle in a haystack.
I did find it seemed to be underpowered coming off ramps to merge at highway speeds, again it's just fine in normal mode, or Sport (Tarmac). In these modes it does a great "giddy up go", and can accelerate impressively, with a deduction in your fuel (from the instant fuel gauge monitoring).
I averaged 41 mpg during the 5000 mile trip. It did much better than the stat sheet shows on it... And I fell in love with the multi adjustable seat. Like a comfortable sports car actually. Never got boring to drive, never felt tired in it.
The adaptive cruise control was amazing too. All the new cars have it, and it's pretty great on the highways, but should be deactivated in city driving (bumper to bumper). Lane assist was on point too, turned it on, kept hands close to the wheel, and it kept me in my lane. Although, it's not for long term driving, as the entire dash will flash in red telling the driver to take the wheel. If you don't take the wheel, it will turn off any auto "things" you may have turned on (cruise, adaptive lane control, ect) and will start decelerating (great safety feature for those who fall asleep at the wheel).
The electronics package gave us the SIRiUS weather and traffic as well. It let us know of incoming storms and such (150$ a year after the first 3 months). Nice addition to the vehicle, and seems to always be monitoring in the background even if using Android Auto (which I used most of the time, as I like the maps, and programmability of it better than maps that come with any vehicles).
Back seats:. 2nd row can be adjusted for more legroom, just like first row seats. First vehicle I've ever had that can do that. 3rd row seats, never used them, kept them stowed away. But I can assure you that your feet are too big for the floor space in front of them - unless, like the kbb reviewer says, it's a child.
The electronics package has a subwoofer in the spare tire area, the vehicle did not come with a spare tire (be very aware of this, if you have a blowout you will need a tire). It does, however, have a fix a flat/gree goo type canister and an electric pump to fill the hole (provided it's a small one). Again, for the price of the vehicle, there could at least been a place for a spare tire - even if just a donut. I have the roof rack, so will be mounting on up top in a Carry adapter (hule?).
Aside from the foggy windows at eco mode and no spare tire, I can easily say this was the best purchase I've ever made.
The warranty alone makes it worth it.
Another reviewer said something about the hood vibration. I took my Outlander to the dealership in Ventura, CA, when I arrived there and they adjusted the latch on it. They even told me about the fix before I noted it was a problem. I suppose it must be a recall, but I didn't receive any notice from Mitsubishi saying they noted this problem.
Additionally, the dealership in Ventura had all the spec models that I was looking for in NY. So if you're looking for one, and are in SoCal, they may be able to get it for you. I'm back in NY, so no such luck for me.
Love the comfort of the ride, lights nice and bright at night (and in that rain/snow, the fog lamps were clear).
The entire roof is a window, it was pretty nice to have driving through downtown Cleveland, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Moab and the Arches, Vegas, and LA. Didn't miss anything.
Again, if the Montero comes back to North America, it's the one vehicle I must have, and the only one I'll pick over this.…

Happy driver

I never gave Mitsubishi a second thought while looking to get into an economical SUV until I ran across one of their ads. I found the new styling to be pretty slick and liked that it was slightly larger than other compact SUVs.
The highlight here is the interior, it's what sold me. It's reminiscent of a luxury brand and its materials and styling. Super happy about this.
Some say the engine is a bit underpowered, but for the average driver it feels very responsive and peppy, but do agree that at higher speeds it's a bit reluctant to get going for passing at freeway speeds.
After buying the car I had to go on the road trip for work and was very happy with the 30.7 miles per gallon I got with cruise control set around 72 miles an hour on mostly flat highway. The adaptive cruise control made my 3-hour drive easy and pleasant.
I was not bothered by things people complain about on the CVT transmission, though it can be a bit jerky at times unless you're smooth on the gas pedal.
Third row seat is kind of a joke, but put the seats down and you get more cargo space and that's a win for me.
Overall, I love the car. It handles great, gets decent gas mileage and feels much more luxurious than the price tag, even on my SE model. I'm a very happy first time Mitsubishi owner/driver.…
